Professor Edwin Bracewell was an inventor working for the British Army during the second World War. He had a brilliant mind, and ideas such as Òhypersonic flightÓ and Ògravity bubblesÓ seemed to come to him from nowhere. One particular concept was the ÒIronsidesÓ; robots designed to be the perfect warrior, equipped with a ray gun and manipulator arm, and pressed into service as BritainÕs latest weapon. However, Ironsides were really the last remnants of the Daleks, who had fallen back thr

Great Boys Toy,
I ordered two of these as Christmas presents and was a bit disappointed to find out that they only work of the same frequencies. However they do come in two different ones so they can fit out battles. So I’m a bit disappointed that they weren’t sent out as the two different frequencies. Poor show really!!!!!!!!! Had to get the super glue out a few times as well for his sticky outy things. Apart from that they would have been great present.

|A missed opportunity,
As the (proud) owner of several Daleks of all colours and sizes, the first thing to strike me with this model was that it seems to only have 2 phrases. When you switch it on, and when it is moving, it shouts ‘Seek, locate, destroy’ without you having the fun of pushing the ‘speech button’. When you do push the button however it just screams ‘Exterminate’ followed by the sound of its gun firing. This is a missed opportunity (or maybe a case of the manufacturer not being interested in providing a new model AND voicechip, opting instead for a simple, cheap paint-job and the addition of a few (unusable) bumpy bits on a belt). Given that this was the only ‘Ironside’ to speak in the show, how great would it have been if they’d put in a new chip with the Dalek saying ‘I am your servant’ & ‘Would you like a cup of tea?’ Now that would’ve been sinister. It wouldn’t have cost THAT much extra to get Nick Briggs to record the correct dialogue. Heck, he’d probably do it for nothing just for the fun of it. Ok, the kiddies probably wouldn’t notice that it’s exactly like the other Daleks but to the grown-ups (and I grudgingly admit to belonging to this group) it would’ve been wonderful. You wait 47 years for decent Dalek to come along and 20 identical sounding buggers all turn up at once. You’d think they were all focused on one thing!

|dalek review,
Doctor Who 5 inch R/C Iron Side Dalek
abolute number one hit in our household at Christmas! The boys (of all ages) loved it.
seems to be easy to control and use and was robust – the only issue we found was that the batteries didn’t last very long
