This figure is absolutely spot on! The attention to detail, the likeness to the actual on-screen cyberman and the poseability are just flawless.

Detail: You can see through the transparent mouthpiece and see the human mouth and chin like in the show. You can see detailed circuitry in the chest plate and the figure also comes with a cybergun, which can be held like in the picture shown. The figure is also wearing moon boots, which shows attention to detail, as only in "Earthshock" did the cybermen wear them.

For the best deal/price go to your local store or the forbidden planet website or Character Options website.

Overall 5 out of 5, my fav. doctor who action figure, highly recommended :)

As a fan of Dr Who from the 20th century I was looking forward to the cybermen in the new Dr Who only to see the cheap pathetic Cybus industry from another universe. I remember the joy i felt when I found out that the bad guys in Earthshock were the cybermen. Of a better design than that of the 70's or the Modern series.

I bought this to replace a cheap 80's one I had in a display cast and the new much better designed action figure with better movement and a more accurate design.

Anyone wanting one of these should be aware that they are freely available from big retailers now. No need to pay ridiculous prices when you can pick them up with your weekly shop (every little helps). Other stockists will be getting more stocks soon as well.

A classic serial from the show's last season of the eighties. The cast are brilliant and this DVD release very ably showcases the story in fully remastered glory with a plethora of extras. Recommended!

My favourite Sylvester McCoy story and by a long way. Dragonfire author Ian Briggs returned to the fold with an adventure quantum leaps ahead of his 1st. Plenty of rich material as he plays with old legends, Dracula and other things in a well structured script including nuances like the commander a little too obsessed with thinking like the enemy.
Uncle Sylvester is the dark doctor to a tee, especially effective as he "rejects" Ace. Sophie gets to play Ace reacting to seeing her family history come alive. Does she inadvertantly engineer her own future?
A top notch guest cast with Alfred Lynch as the thoroughly unpleasant Millington, Dinsdale Landen as a sightly unnerving scientist/codebreaker and ....(watch it to find out) plus Nicholas Parsons as a priest who doubts his own faith. I'm not a fan of stunt casting (Ken Dodd-aarrhggh!) but the old gameshow host gives a beautiful performance. I can't mention them all but there are no bad turns here and watch for Anne Reid of "Smith & Jones" fame (obviously she's got a thing about blood sucking menaces!).
Great monsters, when the Haemovores rise out of the sea it's a standout moment and in fact a pretty well directed tale all round.
A slight demerit for the business of revealing why the Doctor moved a chess piece in Lady Peinforte's study the year before (in Silver Nemesis). Without a clip or better explanation it's just a pointless throwaway reference really.
All in all the last classic for the epic original run of the Police Box Show.
We get a feature length special edition (different to the extended video version) as well as the broadcast version and there are some interesting differences but there's still not much to choose between them for overall quality. A featurette discusses putting together the special version.
There's a master class in making Haemovores, a location recce'that makes it look a terrible place and a vintage piece from a kids show about filming the story.
A convention panel reunites most of the cast and the writer and gives an insight into making the story with plenty of good stories e.g. Sophie's dip in a freezing sea.
To top it off there's a charming commentary with Sylv, Sophie and Nicholas Parsons all justly proud of this story.

I doubt Uncle Sylvester will get a better release.

Whoever said this adventure was childish has seriously confused me. This is the creme de la creme of classic who. Absolutely stunning.
Season 26 of Doctor Who as a whole was absolutely incredible, taking things up a notch from Season 25, which in itself was damn good. The 4 episodes that make up Curse are a fine example of this- exciting, creepy, thrilling, and mysterious. The Cartmel Masterplan was well underway and Doctor Who was finally utilising its potetial to be the ultimate sci-fi series ever - and also a great family show... yes, FAMILY but not CHILDREN'S. Children could enjoy the show for the action, adventure, and scary monsters, but at the same time their parents would be able to appreciate so much more.
The Doctor was not the man he used to be. He was becoming mysterious, manipulative, threatening even. He no longer stumbled randomly from place to place, falling into trouble and getting out of it, in seasons 25-26 you always got the feeling he was... up to something. Sure enough, upon arrival at a WWII British military base the doc ends up battling an ancient enemy from deep in his past, coincidence? One gets the eerie feeling that maybe all these years he claimed to not really know where he was going, maybe he did, and that he had a reason...
Anyway, forgetting the dr for a second, then we have Ace, probably the most interesting character ever to travel in the TARDIS (aside from the dr of course). Unlike most other regulars throughout Who's original 25year run Ace actually had character development!!! She grew, blossomed and matured in her 31 episodes on TV(not to mention what happened to her in the book series that ran when the series was cancelled!), and in Curse we have her "sexual awakening", Ace is no longer a girl, but a woman, using her bubbling sexuality to distract one of the soldiers to give the doctor a clear run. And of course, in Curse we discover that she is no normal Who companion, and, two seasons since she joined the TARDIS crew, we find out that her meeting with the doctor was no coincidence... But I wont reveal too much for the sake of anyone who still hasn't seen it, but its good! Especially so if you've seen stories preceeding it(or at least "Dragonfire" and "Silver Nemesis")
The extra characters in this story are also well sketched out and portrayed, Nicholas Parson playing Wainright is incredible, he makes the character (a Reverand who has lost is faith in Christ because of the War, especially the barbaric actions of the BRITISH military) incredibly believable and sympathetic. Also worthy of note are Tomek Bork as the well meaning Russian Captain Sorin, Alfred Lynch as the deranged Nazi-sympathiser Commander Millington, and Dinsdale Landen as the wheelchair-bound Doctor Judson. Of particular interest are the underlying hints of a possible romantic relationship between Millington and Judson, and Ian Briggs(the scriptwriter) himself admits that he concieved Millington's madness was in part due to his struggle with homosexuality in the brutal world of the British Army in the 1940's; whilst Judson's crippled nature is obviously symbolic of a deeper, personality "disability", and the only manner he can overcome it is to succomb to another's will. Powerful Stuff.
And for anyone who doesn't care about all the other stuff and just wants a fun run-around, it's a great Who good versus evil battle with great production values.
So with its stunning visuals, fascinating characterisation, shocking plot twists(including those that relate to seasons ago), deep subtext and above all else, a damn good story; what is there not to like in "The Curse of Fenric", and, more to the point, what, pray tell, is childish?

This is meant for display rather than play as long as you realise that and buy it for that purpose then this is a quality product. It looks fantastic in or out of the TARDIS interior box with good detail on the figure itself.

I was childishly excited when I saw this item advertised, but I thought it was an all metal poseable figure, wrong on both counts. The figure is non poseable and his head and arms are plastic. The paint finish is poor, so all in all the plastic action figures are cheaper, more fun and better looking.

On the plus side the packaging is fantastic, a tardis interior with moulded plastic bobbles. If only the thought that had gone into the box had been used on it's contents this would be a great item.

Disappointing.

The revived Doctor who has been somewhat of a mixed bag since it began 2 yrs ago,sometimes brilliant episodes would be followed by horrid ones. This collection from season 3 is ok but no more than that. The dalek 2 parter is pretty lame,theres barely enough material here for 1 episode let alone 2,theres virtually no action and a load of actors doing fake american accents running around!!..writr helen raynor will be contributing another 2 part story for season 4,lets hope it better than this!

The Lazurus experiment is although stoeywise pretty flimsy it's quite an enjoyable episode and prob the best ep on this disc

42 is a story by chris chibnell..the main writer on torchwood. This is another mediocre story..all too reminiscent of last yrs impossible planet 2 parter..why do another take on a similar theme this soon?? doesnt make sense..some nice fx in this at the end but again it's not that great.

Fortunatley the next volume is excellent with the family of blood 2 parter and the amazing blink...this is how it should be done..avoid this volume and get the next one.

Series Three of DOCTOR WHO is where The Act Finally Gets Together. There are no elements that lack in comparison to others. It's a perfectly balanced production that delivers on every technical and emotional level.

The varied nature of the stories still means there's going to be some episodes better than others, but the beauty of it all is that the standard is so impeccably high. It's fair to say we have never had it so good.

DALEKS IN MANHATTAN and EVOLUTION OF THE DALEKS, a two-parter set in Depression-era New York, is probably the least effective story of the season. However, I will immediately qualify this by saying that the visuals are generally stunning and the scope is impressive, but the flaw remains in the realisation of DALEK/HUMAN SEC. It slightly diminishes the whole by not being 100% convincing and that's a terrible shame. Credit must go to Director JAMES STRONG, however, who is mostly on the money (note: I initially disliked the marching human/hybrid army dissolves, then saw in it a lovely homage to the Flash Gordons'/Buck Rogers' Republic serials of the time, a very nice touch) - but for my money, and for sheer visual and visceral impact, he'll need to sit on another Zarbi anthill before he tops THE SATAN PIT.

What an absolute delight THE LAZARUS EXPERIMENT is. Elements of Frankenstein, Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde, The Fly, Quatermass and The Pit - all rolled into one big, skeletal mess of a monster. MARK GATISS makes the most of his part as the age-reversal experiment gone wrong and draws out an effectively mean 'n moody performance from his best mate DAVID TENNANT. FREEMA AYGEMAN likewise continues to impress with her measured performance, wholly without the clinginess that made late-era BILLIE PIPER so irritating. The climax in the Cathedral is another great set-piece and leads nicely to the ending, where the "Mister Saxon" element is ramped up considerably to generate palpable fear in the mind of Martha's mother and the man her daughter's Tardishacked-up with. Great stuff.

'42' was never going to exceed expectations, mainly due to Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine', but for a primetime British television show, the story of a mining ship being dragged into a star was beautifully realised. With forty-two minutes left before destruction, there's a terrifying real-time twist to unfolding events which highlight the true nature of 'cause and effect'. That said, I tend to blow a little hot(!) and cold about Director GRAEME HARPER's work on this show (blame the slightly indifferent Cybermen for that), but the pace he generates and his striking colour palette cannot be faulted here. Allied to The Mill's superb CGI, there were moments as the escape pod fell into the sun that simply took my breath away. Hopefully yours too. "I'll save you!" "I'll Save You!!" "I'LL SAVE YOU!!!" I'll say no more.

I'm sure I've missed things out, but where do you stop? Music, performances, set design...everyone involved firing on all cylinders, all passionate about their work. How jealous am I? How lucky are we.

Wizzard were right. You know...the seasonal hit they had? Doctor Who is the fulfilment of that wish and we are spoiled rotten. Every Saturday night. Every Year. For thirteen wonderful weeks. And THEN Christmas Day comes and...

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
